Abstract: The influence of alcohol (including butanol, dodecanol, tetrade-canol) and amine (including n-hexylamine and n-butyl amine) on viscosity of hydrophobically associating water-soluble polymersolution has been investigated in this paper. It has been shown that alcohols can enhance the viscosity of the polymer solution and the more alkyl carbon number of the alcohol the more notably increase of the viscosity of the polymer solution. The viscosity of the polymer solution decreases obviously because of addition of the amine including n-hexylamine and nbutyl amine.
