Abstract: Carbonate formation is characterized by higher resistivity and bigger difference of Dual and Shallow lateral logging compared with clastic formation. There are so many factors affecting the high risistivity of carbonate formations that it is difficult to identify the reservoir and interpret the property of fluids. the factors are analyzed which affect the values and differences of dual lateral logging combining the logging date with modeling results. The factors include borehole size, fracture, lithology, fluid resistivity, invasion depth etc. At last, the affecting degree to dual lateral logging is summarized and the reason of high resistivity and big fluctuating in carbonate interpreted. The conclusion is helpful to realize the change law of dual lateral logging of carbonate better as well as analyze the reservoir in detail.
