Abstract

Abstract: Core with hydrocarbon show comprises much information of petroleum generation,migration,accumulation and formation.In this paper,basic thought for investigating such information is suggested based on a case study in the Luxi area of the Junggar Basin.The method is to integrate geological and (organic and inorganic) geochemical methods.It is proposed that the representiveness of the core with hydrocarbon show in the bulk hydrocarbon-show section be determined at the first,then,five steps is adopted,including determining hydrocarbon source,reconstructing petroleum migration and accumulation process,identifying oil-gas-water interval,analyzing petroleum migration and accumulation and predicting favorable petroleum forming area and exploration strategy.In general,the above fundamentals provide reference for similar studies.Additionally,practical research results in the Luxi area imply prospective on regional exploration and studies.
