Analysis of the Reduplicated Adjective Suffix in Xiaguan Dialect

As the capital of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Xiaguan is the center of politics, economy and culture with a long history of multi-nationality; this makes Xiaguan dialect as a local characteristic. This paper collects the reduplicative adjective suffix in Xiaguan dialect and analyzes its types from two aspects. Structurally speaking, Xiaguan reduplicative adjective suffix covers root and affix; formally speaking, it contains ABB type and ABCD type. The paper further summarizes its grammatical characters and functions and its pragmatic functions of enhancing the degree of modification and expressing feelings of the speakers, describing the items vividly and giving a strong sense of rhythm.
