Cultural Study on the Shengyuan Temple Steles in Dali

Abstract

Abstract:

The article studies the history of the Shengyuan Temple from Sui- Tang Dynasties to Ming- Qing Dynasties through
reviewing the tablets in the temple, analyzes the reason for the flourishing and decline of this temple, and discusses the relationship between the Shenyuan Temple and Avalokitesvara-build-kingdom belief of Nanzhao and Dali Kingdom, as well as the changing process of the Avalokitesvara- build-kingdom belief to the folk belief after the Yuan Dynasty in this temple.
