Abstract:

〔Abstract〕 Objective: To investigate the risk factors and related preventive measures of bone cement leakage during percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF). Methods: The case data of OVCF treated with PKP in the Department of Orthopedics, Haikou Affiliated Hospital of Central South University Xiangya School of Medicine from December 2016 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into the leakage group and the non-leakage group according to whether the bone cement leakage occurred during the operation. The related indicators that may affect bone cement leakage were compared between the two groups, and the main risk factors for bone cement leakage were analyzed by Logistic regression. Results: Among the 107 patients, 18 patients had bone cement leakage, and the penetration rate was 16.82%.The comparative analysis of the basic data of the patients and Logistic regression analysis showed that age≥65 years old, bone cement injection volume >5 mL, and preoperative Cobb angle >24° were independent risk factors for bone cement leakage during PKP surgery. Conclusion: Age, the intraoperative bone cement injection volume and preoperative Cobb angle of PKP patients are independent risk factors for bone cement leakage, and bone cement injection volume is the most major risk factor.
