委婉语就是用婉转的、文雅的话语来表述或代替人们所忌讳的、不便提及的以及被认为是不雅的、不洁的事物。分别论述委婉语在跨文化交际中的积极作用和消极影响，并提出利用语境和运用跨文化意识来对跨文化交际中的委婉语进行把握是很有必要的。
Euphemism is to use euphemistic and gentle words to express or replace things which are taboo or inconvenient to mention or considered as vulgar or unclean. It is necessary to expound the positive role and the negative influence of euphemism in intercultural communication and put forward the idea of comprehending euphemism in intercultural communication through context and intercultural awareness.
