Abstract: The important arrangements regarding the inspection work in the new era in the report of the 20th National Congress of the
Communist Party of China provide the fundamental guidance for promoting the inspection work of colleges and universities under the
background of comprehensively and strictly governing the Party. As an extension of inspection and supervision in colleges and
universities, the inspection work of colleges and universities has distinct political, educational, and development attributes. The
theoretical origin of the practice of college and university inspection work, the adherence to taking the political construction of the Party as the overarching principle, and the persistence in viewing issues from a political perspective all demonstrate the political attributes of colleges and university inspection work. The specific embodiment of the nurturing attributes of the inspection work lies in the new requirements of the new era of cultivating talents, safeguarding the function of nurturing in colleges and universities, and creating a good nurturing ecology. The development attributes are embodied in three aspects, namely, the development of college and university inspection work itself, the development of people, and the development of colleges and universities.
