Yunnan in Tian Jian's Poems

Abstract:

Tian Jian was a famous poet in the history of modern and contemporary Chinese literature. After the founding of the People's Republic of China he visited many frontier areas and lived in Yunnan the southwestern frontier of our motherland for half a year then created some short or long poems about Yunnan which reflected the unique and contemporary situation of Yunnan. The writing of Yunnan in Tian Jian's poems consists of the various contents First Yunnan is a diplomatic fortress playing an important role in Sino-foreign relations and is the frontier of peaceful coexistence between China and the South Asian countries Secondly Yunnan is a place of ethnic symbiosis which has nurtured the rich and long history culture of many nationalities and accumulates the national spirit of loving labor and freedom Thirdly Yunnan is the soil of poetry and its unique natural geographical features and cultural landscape inspire Tian Jian's creative enthusiasm. Understanding the writing aboutYunnanin Tian Jian's Poems would help us to have a more comprehensive and profound understanding ofYunnan.
