Nanzhao was a country rose and developed in southwest China during Tang dynast. It showed its own regional and age features with the developing degree and national status at that time. And these features were mainly presented by criminal legal system functioned as a relatively effective social norm. The criminal legal system presented the features of feudalism, slavery and ethnic customs and was connected closely to the real social environment in Nanzhao Kingdom. The criminal legal system in Nanzhao is also a particular part of criminal law practiced in China, and can be used as a reference to those multi-national and disparate developed countries and regions on system arrangement.
