As the portal to foreign relations, port is the core, driving force and window of any area. After the analysis of the location,research and policy advantages of Tianbao Port and a comparison of these advantages with the general port development status, the paper points out some problems in infrastructure, import and export structure, port function, customs clearance service and industry composition in Tianbao Port, and offers corresponding countermeasures for its further economic contribution to Malipo County, as well as for relevant departments.
