Research on Hypoglycemic Effect of the Sagittaria Sagittifolin Polysaccharide

Objective: To observe the hypoglycemic effect of polysaccharide from Sagittaria sagittifolin in alloxan-induced diabetic
mice. Methods: The diabetic model mice were established by intra-abdominal injection of 190 mg/kg alloxan, the hypoglycemic
effects of Sagittaria sagittifolin polysaccharide in 0.75 g/kg and 0.375 g/kg were examined. Results: Sagittaria sagittifolin
polysaccharide in two doses could both significantly decrease the blood glucose in diabetic mice (P<0.05). Conclusion: Sagittaria
sagittifolin polysaccharide showed certain hypoglycemic effect on diabetic mice model.
