Abstract:

Objective: To study the antibacterial activity in vitro of different extracts isolated from the part of ethyl acetate extracted
from Geranium strictipes R. Kunth. Methods: The ethyl acetate extracts were eluted by H2O and the different concentration of the
ethanol through the macro-porous resin column, then the antibacterial effects of different extracts on the 13 common pathogenic
bacteria and MRSA were conducted by the method of constant tube dilution. Results: Water extract had no obviously antibacterial
activity on the standard bacterial strains. 50% ethanol extracts had a certain antibacterial activity at different degree on 13 common
pathogenic bacteria and 10 MRSA. Conclusion: The 50% ethanol extracts from Geranium strictipes R. Kunth have significant
antibacterial effect in vitro.
