Study on the Chemical Constituents of Astragalus balfourianus

Abstract:

Objective: To explore the chemical constituents of Astragalus balfourianus. Methods: The constituents were isolated by chromatography applying silica gel column, RP-18, sephadex LH-20 and MCI, and the structures were identified on the basis of spectral data and physicochemical properties. Results: Six compounds were isolated from ethyl acetate fraction of the MeOH extract from rhizomes and were identified as betulinic acid（1）, β-sitosterol（2）, isoliquiritigenin（3）, squalene（4）, ononin（5）, and formononetin （6）. Conclusion: These compounds were obtained from Astragalus balfourianus for the first time.
