Abstract:

Objective: To study acute toxicity of anti-HIV-1 active extracts from pinecone of Pinus yunnanensis and to evaluate its
medicinal safety. Methods: The maximum dosage test was used, and after intragastric administration of pinecone extracts in mice (25 g/kg once for 14 days, with acute toxicity observed during this period, the body weight and organ weight were measured and the histopathological examination on the liver and kidney was conducted. Results: The acute toxicity test showed no toxicity, the control group and the treatment group showed no significant difference statistically on organ index and pathological examination showed no abnormal results in each group. Conclusion: Therewasnoacutetoxicityreactiononanti-HIV-1activeextractsfrompinecone.
