Abstract:

Objective: To investigate the effect of the ethyl acetate part and the water Part of Geranium strictipes R. Kunth on the
growth, acidogenicity, adhesion of Actinomyces viscosus (A.v). Methods: Actinomyces viscosus was chosen as the experimental
bacteria. And then the effects of the ethyl acetate part and the water portion of G. strictipes on the growth(including the minimum
inhibitory concentration and the minimum bactericidal concentration), acid generation and adhesion were assessed. Results: The MIC of the ethyl acetate part and the water portion of G. strictipes against A.v was 4.500 g/L ,9.000 g/L, the MBC of the ethyl acetate part and the water Part of G. strictipes against A.v was 9.000 g/L ,18.000 g/L; it was found that the ethyl acetate part and the water Part of G. strictipes can inhibit the acid generation and adhesion of the A.v effectively. Conclusion: The ethyl acetate part and the water Part of G. strictipes may be an effective anti-caries agent.
