Abstract:

In The Woman Warrior, Maxine Hong Kingston, the Chinese American female writer, constructs an ideal identity through
the image of "an androgynous warrior" and "a singer of hybrid culture" by rewriting the traditional Chinese tales about Hua Mulan and
Cai Wenji. This construction offers more ways out and possibilities for Chinese American women to redefine their cultural and gender
identities under a multicultural and global context.
