Abstract: Objective: To explore the influence of Cu on the visible light photocatalytic activity of AglnS2. Methods:Cu-AglnS2 with different Cu and In ratios were prepared via a low temperature liquid phase method. X- ray powder diffraction(XRD), X- ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), Scan electron microscope(SEM), Transmission electron microscopy(TEM), UV- Vis diffuse reflection spectroscopy(UV-Vis DRS), and photoluminescence spectroscopy(PL)were used to characterize the obtained products.Rhodamine B(RhB)was selected as the model contaminant, and the effects of different ratios of Cu on the visible light photocatalytic activities of AglnS2 were explored. Results: The visible light photocatalytic activity of AglnS2 was enhanced when appropriate amount of Cu was introduced into AglnS2. The optimum ratio of Cu2+ and In3+ is 11:6. With this ratio, Cu-AglnS2 could degrade 82% of RhB after being exposed in visible light for 90 minutes. Conclusion: The visible light photocatalytic activity of AgInS2 can be improved effectively by the introduction of Cu into AgInS2.
