Abstract: In order to improve the survival rate and growth rate of hydroponic Blechnum orientale, this research studied the effects of different substrate(biochemical cotton and colonization baskets)and Japanese garden nutrient solutions with different degrees of concentrations(standard nutrient solution, 1/2 standard nutrient solution, 1/4 standard nutrient solution and city water after standing for 2 days)on root length, number of new leaves and plant fresh growth weight. The results showed that after 50 days of hydroponic experiment, Blechnum orientale planted with biochemical cotton had better root length(11.58 ± 1.38)cm, the number of new leaves (11.00 ± 0.82)and the fresh weight(22.00 ± 0.82)g than those planted in baskets with the root length(8.95 ± 0.79)cm and the number of new leaves(9.25 ± 0.96), fresh weight(18.50 ± 1.29)g, indicating that biochemical cotton is conducive to the cultivation of rich ferns. Among the test results with different concentrations of nutrient solution in the garden, the root length, new leaf number and resh weight increment of biochemical cotton and colonization baskets were(10.77 ± 0.85)cm ,(12.67 ± 2.08),(19.67 ± 2.08)g and (10.20 ± 0.61)cm,(11.33 ± 1.53)and(17.67 ± 0.58)g respectively in the 1/2 standard nutrient solution, which suggest 1/2 solution is more conducive for the cultivation of the plant.
