Abstract:

Objective:To analyze the risk factors of occupational exposure among the medical staff in infectious disease hospitals.
Methods:A retrospective analysis was performed on the occupational exposure profile from January 2013 to December 2013 by using
a self-designed occupational exposure registry. Results:The incidence of hospital occupational exposure was the highest among
clinical nurses, and the highest rate was among nurses who had worked for less than a year. The incidence of needle stick injury was up
to 74.5%. The rate of contact to HIV and HBV accounted for 37.3%, and 14.5% of the occupational exposures happened for unknown
reasons. 59(53.6%) medical staff in the Infectious Disease Department experienced occupational exposure. Conclusion:It is
important to promote the concept of safe injection, strengthen management of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens and
explore individualized patterns of occupational protection education and training for all the staff.
