Abstract:

Objective: The paper is to explore the effect of K+ on the visible light photocatalytic activity of AgInS2. Methods:
K-AgInS2 with different molar ratios of K+ to In3+ was prepared by using the low temperature liquid phase method. XRD, XPS, SEM,
UV-Vis DRS, and PL were used to characterize the products. Rhodamine B(RhB)was selected as the model contaminant, 1 000 W
halogen lamp was used as the light source(λ>420 nm), the effects of different ratios of K+ on the photocatalytic activities of AgInS2
were explored. Results: Visible light photocatalytic activity of AgInS2 was enhanced when appropriate amount of K+ was introduced
into AgInS2. The optimum ratio of K+ to In3+ was 12:5, K-AgInS2 with the optimal ratio showed the highest visible light photocatalytic
activity. Conclusion: The effects of K+ on the visible light photocatalytic activity of AgInS2 were non-linear, and the visible light
photocatalytic activity of AgInS2 increased and then decreased with the introduction of K+.
