Quality of Life Survey of Elderly Migrants of Yi Nationality in Yunnan Province

Abstract: 〔Abstract〕Objective: To survey the quality of life of senior migrants and senior natives from Yi ethnic group in Yunnan, and explore
the essential factors affecting their quality of life. Methods: We randomly selected 60 senior migrants and another 60 senior natives
from Yi ethnic group in Yunnan as the subjects. Surveys were conducted by using social demographic data questionnaires and the
generic scale WHOQOL-BREF developed and recommended by WHO. Results: There were no statistically significant differences in
self-rating score of quality of life and health status between senior migrants and senior natives of Yi Nationality(P>0.05); but such
factors as age, average monthly family income and chronic diseases influenced the quality of life of senior migrants (P<0.05).
Conclusion: There are no differences between the quality of life of senior migrants and senior natives of Yi Nationality in Yunnan.
Age, average monthly family income and chronic diseases are the major factors that have influenced life of quality of senior migrants of
Yi nationality.
