Abstract:

Shakespeare's Sonnets is the only collection of Shakespeare's poems and the peak of sonnets. Liang Zongdai's translation of Shakespeare's Sonnets has been widely praised and recognized as a model in the field. His translation adheres to the principle of "literal translation as the main part and variation as the auxiliary part". The language is delicate euphemistic and elegant and the translation has both wonderful appearance and spirit. Taking this translation as an example this paper probes Liang Zongdai's translation style and strategy aiming to provide reference for future translation studies of Shakespeare's Sonnets and related researches of translator's style.
