Bai People's Benzhu Worship and The Fostering of a Senseof Community for the Chinese Nation
As a unique folk religious belief of the
Bai people, the Benzhu
worship has been formed and developed in the interaction and integration of
ethnic groups, and has been
deeply influenced by the traditional Chinese culture. For thousands of years, the Bai's Benzhu worship has
widely absorbed the ethics of Confucianism as well as the cultural symbols of
Buddhism and Taoism, and constructed their national identity from folk beliefs. The
excellent traditional Chinese cultural factors in the Bai's Benzhu worship have
been playing a crucial role in fostering the strong sense of the community for
the Chinese nation.
