Abstract:

To cultivate the sense of Chinese National Community is a general principle of ethnic work at the time of new era. The popularization of standard spoken and written national languages is a foundation project for the construction of Chinese National Community. The preschool period is a critical period for children to learn the common national language. Due to the influence of the language environment in the rural areas of ethnic minorities, local children’s national language ability is generally low. So, it is necessary to strengthen policy intervention in order to benefit children’s future development and lay a solid foundation for building a strong sense of community of the Chinese nation. The pilot work of “learning Mandarin before school” in Liangshan, Sichuan Province has done a useful practical exploration in this respect. We must properly handle the relationship between ethnic minority languages and the common language of the state. While scientifically protecting ethnic languages, it is necessary to make great efforts to promote the popularization of standard language education in ethnic minority areas, especially for preschool children in ethnic minority areas
