Bilateral Triceps Brachii Approach in the Treatment for Humeral Supracondylar and
Intercondylar Fracture

Abstract:

Objective: To explore the surgical skill and clinical effect of bilateral triceps brachii approach with double plates fixation
in treatment for humeral supracondylar and intercondylar fracture. Methods: 42 cases of humeral supracondylar and intercondylar
fracture treated by bilateral triceps brachii approach with double plates fixationfrom January 2009 to May 2015 were reviewed. Results:
After 12-18 months follow-up, according to the scoring system of Cassebaum, 30 cases were rated as excellent, 5 cases good, 4 cases
poor and 1 case bad. The excellent and good rates reach 88%. The clinical effect is satisfactory. Conclusion: Bilateral triceps brachii
approach with double plates fixation in treatment for humeral supracondylar and intercondylar fracture have the advantages of firm
fixation, easy operation, and less trauma, which contribute to early functioning of joints after operation and better recovery of elbows.
