Abstract:

Objective: To investigate the clinical effects of hip replacement in the treatment of advanced femoral head necrosis.
Methods: 64 cases of advanced femoral head necrosis received hip replacement surgery were analyzed, as well as recovery eccentricity
and center of rotation during the surgery, and the lower extremity length after recovery were studied. The position of prosthesis and the
situation of bone ingrowth were investigated through X-ray in follow-ups, and the function recovery of hip joint was evaluated by
Harris Scale. Results: The patients were followed up for an average of 4.9 years(6 to 87 months)without death case, including 2 cases
suffered of venous thrombosis of lower extremity; 2 cases suffered hip pain two years after surgery(proved to be loosing artificial limb),
which were relived by taking painkiller; 62 cases recovered with normal function, no dislocation, no broken prosthesis, and no unequal
lower limb length. Through Harris Scale, the average score was 40 before surgery, 94.5 after surgery. Conclusion: Total hip
replacement can provide effective treatment for advanced femur head necrosis, recover hip function, relieve the pains, and improve the
quality of life.
