Abstract:

〔Abstract〕Objective: To analyze the effect of ESWL for the treatment of urinary stones. Methods: A retrospective analysis was
made on the clinical data of the urinary stones patients who underwent extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy in People's Hospital of
Yuxi City from November 2001 to December 2016. Results: 7 779 patients with urinary stones had received ESWL, of which 85.87%
(6 680/7 779)had ureteral stones. In all cases, the clean-up rate of stone was 89.50%(6 962/7 779). There were 6 patients(0.08%)
who got perinephric abscess complication and 5 of them got cured after receiving expectant treatment. 37.00%(2 878/7 779)patients
were cured after the first ESWL treatment, and 51.78%(4 028/7 779)received twice before cured. 0.72%(56/7 779)cured patients
experienced three times. The rest 10.50%(817/7 779)patients had unsatisfactory curative effect(the stones were not discharged or
not discharged completely after the third ESWL treatment). Conclusion: ESWL is safe and effective, especially for ureteral stones and
worthy of further clinical promotion.
