Abstract: 〔Abstract〕Objective: To study the chemical constituents of Crataegus scabrifolia(Franch.)Rehd. and their lipid-lowering activities.
Methods: The compounds were isolated and purified by column chromatography padded with silica gel and Sephadex LH-20, and their
structures were identified based on the comprehensive analyses of the physicochemical properties and spectral data. The lipid-lowering
activity in vitro was evaluated by cellular model of high-fat HepG2. Results: Six compounds were obtained from the 95% ethanol extract
of the fruits of wild C. scabrifolia and identified as benzoic acid(1), 2-hydroxybutanedioic acid dimethyl ester(2), 2-hydroxy-succinic
acid 1-methyl ester(3), β-sitosterol(4), daucosterol(5), and quercetin(6). Compounds 2-5 showed no significant lipid reduction at
200 μmol/L concentration. Conclusion: This was the first report on compounds 2 and 3 from the plants of Genus Crataegus, and
compound 1 was isolated from C. scabrifolia for the first time. Compounds 2-5 had no lipid-lowering activity in vitro.
