Application of Occupational Therapy under MOHO in the Rehabilitation of Inpatients with Serious Mental Illness

Abstract: 〔Abstract〕Objective: To examine the effect of occupational therapy under MOHO mode for the rehabilitation of persons with severe
mental illness. Methods: 40 hospitalized patients with severe mental illness were divided into the observation group and the control
group. The control group was given routine mental care. In the observation group, MOHO-ST was used to evaluate the information of
patients′ working ability, and occupational therapy was supplemented by token economy treatment. The changes in the scores of SANS,
NOSIE-30 and ADL before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the SANS score of the
observation group decreased and the score was lower than that of the control group; ADL score of the observation group decreased, the
total positive factor score of nosie-30 was higher than that of the control group, and the total negative factor score was lower than that of
the control group. The difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05). Conclusion: The occupational therapy under MOHO is
helpful to improve the withdrawal, isolation and laziness of patients with serious mental diseases, and promote their self-care ability.
Thus, the therapy has high clinical application value.
