Abstract: 〔Abstract〕Objective: To study the relationship between social support, treatment attitudes and beliefs and self-management of empty-nest elderly patients with hypertension, and to provide a scientific basis for improving their self-management level. Methods: We established the social support rating scale, the scale of attitude and belief in treating hypertension, and the self-management scale of patients with hypertension to make a survey among 208 subjects. Results: The social support rating scale score was 41.93±5.48 points, the scale of attitude and belief in treating hypertension scored 64.22±10.92 points, and the self-management scale of patients with hypertension scored 70.68±9.21 points. There was a positive correlation between attitude and belief in hypertension treatment and social support and hypertension self-management(P<0.05). Social support had a partial mediating effect between attitudes and beliefs in the treatment of hypertension and self-management of hypertension. The 95% confidence interval of the mediating effect was (0.160, 0.508). The mediating effect accounted for 41.42% of the total effect. Conclusion: Social support, treatment attitudes and beliefs are closely related to the self-management level of empty-nest elderly patients with hypertension. The self-management level can be improved by promoting social support and treatment attitudes and beliefs of patients.
