Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the rationality of clinical use of ceftazidime and to provide reference for clinical standardization
and rational use of ceftazidime. Methods: A total of 252 hospitalized patients who received ceftazidime injection were selected from
July 2019 to September 2019 in the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”). The
rationality of medication was evaluated in terms of indications, dose regimen, microbiological examination, and combination of drugs.
Results: The drugs of utilization index (DUI) of ceftazidime for injection in our hospital was < 1. Among the drug use of 252 cases,
214 cases (84.92%) were rational and 38 cases (15.08%) were irrational; 146 cases (57.94%) received routine etiological examinations,
including 84 blood samples (57.53%) and 42 sputum samples (28.77%); 67 cases (26.59%) received combined use of the two drugs,
and 1 case (0.40%) was incompatible. The patients used ceftazidime for injection were mainly hospitalized in the respiratory and critical
medical area, involving respiratory diseases such as pneumonia and asthma, with a total number of 71 cases (28.18%). Conclusion: The
clinical use of ceftazidime for injection in our hospital is basically rational, but there were still a few cases with inappropriate drug use.
