Special Comments on Clinical Rational Use of Methylprednisolone in Our Hospital

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the clinical application of methylprednisolone in Lincang People s Hospital (hereinafter referred
to as “our hospital”), in order to improve the rationality of clinical application of glucocorticoid. Methods: A total of 240 medical
records of discharged patients who used methylprednisolone between 2018 and 2019 in our hospital were selected, and the rationality
of their medication was analyzed. Results: Of the 240 medical records, 21 were with irrational use of methylprednisolone (8.75%); the
drug was most frequently used in pediatrics (17.92%); the highest proportion of drug use was for chemotherapy for malignant tumors
(22.50%); methylprednisolone sodium succinate 40 mg was most frequently used (90.42%). Conclusion: Clinical pharmacists should
strengthen the special comments on glucocorticoid drugs, so as to improve the rationality of clinical application of such drugs and ensure
the safety of patients.
