A Secluded Nu Village:A Survey of Vernacular Architecture in Chala Village of Nujiang Prefecture

Abstract: The architectural characteristics embodied in Chala village are a microcosm of the Nu ethnic village in northern Nujiang
Prefecture,and have become a treasure trove of cultural genes guiding the development of architectural diversity with respect to the
solution of the residence problems.This paper discusses the basic features,construction techniques and art,functional layout of
architectural space,architectural decoration and culture of Gongshan Chala architecture and displays the architectural cultural
characteristics of the Nu ethnic group in Gongshan in the north of the Nujiang prefecture,which provides valuable reference for the
optimization and development of architectural style in western Yunnan.
