Qian Mu's Cultural Education Thought and Contemporary Enlightenment

Abstract: Qian Mu,who had spent his life evoking the soul of his homeland,took inheriting and carrying forward Chinese
traditional culture as his duty. Faced with the erosion of Chinese traditional culture by Western culture at that time,he stuck to the
tradition and maintained the reformation,and meanwhile,put forward systematically cultural education thought. He believed that the
aim of cultural education was to cultivate students'sound personality;the concept of curriculum design of cultural education was to
lay equal stress on general knowledge and expertise;and the basic path of cultural education was historical interpretation. Qian Mu's
cultural education thought has an important influence on the development of contemporary education. It enlightens us to create a
high-quality cultural environment of learning and cultivate students'personality,to build a new curriculum system and pay attention
to the influence of traditional culture,to absorb the educational essence of Chinese traditional culture and regain self-confidence of
contemporary cultural education.
