Abstract: The construction of general education teaching staff plays an important role in faculty development in colleges. However,
"employment-orientation" vocational education model has made most higher vocational colleges prefer professional skills to general
education,which impedes the building of general education teaching staff. While general education is of great significance in
cultivating students' views of world,life and values so as to contribute a lot to the development of new generation with "Four
Qualifications" in the process of the country's booming higher vocational education. In order to cultivate talents who can adapt to the
new development,higher vocational colleges have to build a general education teaching team with sufficient staff number,reasonable
age structure and profession title system,noble ethics,strict political stance and excellent literary accomplishment.
