Abstract:

Conjunctions acquisition reflects learners' discourse competence. Based on the corpus the study investigated the acquisition of six adversative conjunctions with elementary difficulty by Central Asian students. It was found that in general the use accuracy of adversative conjunctions with elementary difficulty by Central Asian students at elementary level was higher and the acquisition effect was better. Students have certain preferences in the adversative conjunctions. "Danshi" is the most commonly used conjunctions . "Suiran... Danshi..." is the most commonly used complex sentence structure. There are many errors in the acquisition of conjunctions in foreign students' written texts among which redundancy and substitution are the most common. There is also a tendency of discourse tokenization of conjunctions. The acquisition of conjunctions by foreign students is affected by the negative transfer of the third language textbook writing classroom teaching and other factors.
