RNA interference (RNAi) is an evolutionarily conserved mechanism of gene regulation in almost all living organisms, with roles ranging from the developmental regulation of gene expression to defense mechanism against viral infections. In this paper, the concept, mechanism, basic characteristics and new research progress of RNA Interference are summarized. At the end, the application prospects of RNA Interference are described.
