Application of Cases Combined PBL Teaching Method for Urology Clinical Probation Teaching

Abstract:

Objective: To evaluate the application of cases combined with PBL teaching strategy for urology clinical probation
teaching. Methods: The students of grade 2007 and grade 2008 on clinical medicine specialty in our school were applied with two
different methods. The grade 2007 were applied traditional teaching method and the grade 2008 were applied cases combined with
PBL. The teaching effect was assessed after testing and measuring. Results: The students of grade 2008 had better evaluation of
performance and a more comprehensive fruits such as on mastery of urology knowledge point and analysis of clinical thinking.
Conclusion: In urology clinical probation teaching, the method of cases combined with PBL can promote knowledge acquirement,
improve the clinical ability on thinking and analysis and cultivate independent learning habit. The key of the method lies in choosing
cases, designing problems, proper guidance, full preparation before class and well summarizing after class.
