Reflection the International Exchange Program Based on the Students' English Cognitive Abilities
———The Case of Dali University

We conducted purposive sample, interview and questionnaire on the Chinese students from different majors and grades in Dali University, who had participated in the international exchange and cooperation program from 2007 to 2012. Based on English cognitive abilities of students, the study found that Chinese students held different ideas on the importance of English, English communicative ability, and culture adaptive ability. We took a dim view on overall English performances of the participants during the international exchange and cooperation. Consequently, the study might help strength and enhance the effectiveness and perfection of the program in the future collaboration, changing the traditional model of college English teaching, paying more attention to students' English applied abilities and developing students' comprehensive qualities, in order to improve the level of international exchange cooperation among universities.
