Abstract:

Objective: To investigate the relationship between peripheral leucocyte count and coronary atherosclerosis disease.
Method: The data of 72 patients who received coronary angiography for the first time during March 2009 and May 2010 were collected and analyzed. Results: The peripheral leucocyte count, neutrophil count, neutrophil proportion, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio were significantly higher in patients with angiographically abnormal coronary arteries group (n=52)compared with the patients with angiographically normal arteries group (n =20) (P≤0.03).
However, the lymphocyte proportions were significantly lower in the angiographically abnormal group (P≤0.02).
Conclusions: Peripheral leucocyte count and classification may predict the lesion and severity of coronary atherosclerosis.
