Abstract:

One of the key prosperous reasons for Nanzhao Kingdom is the economic emphasis of mountainous regions. The state
exploited its mountainous economy with various measures and thus set a solid foundation for the Kingdom, a brilliant historic state in
Chinese history. Basing on historic materials, this paper analyzed the economic achievements of mountainous regions in Nanzhao
Kingdom and its significance for modern times from the perspective of agriculture, animal husbandry, salt and mining industries.
