Abstract: When China is at the starting point of its the new journey of development and practice in the next century, Xi Jinping expound the idea of "five only paths". Theoretically, historical materialism, the Party's innovation theory and Chinese excellent culture constitute the generative basis of the "five only paths". Historically, the "five only paths" inherit from the process China developed from chaos to regulation since the birth of the Communist Party of China, from the process from regulation to governance since the founding of new China and from the process from governance to strength since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Practically, the realization of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the construction of a long-term ruling Marxist party, and the China' s contribution to the world in comparison with the West constitute the contemporary significance of "five only paths". The "five only paths" is a summarization of Xi Jinping's theories and practice on the governance of China. It is a groundbreaking and forward-looking statement that will help China-style modernization make steady progress.
