Abstract: Concepts of government governance are being challenged when more citizens participate in politics through the Internet.After an analysis of the basic characteristics and motivations of citizen online political participation，we present approaches for improvement of government governance：the government should take measures to function with greater efficiency，respond to social problems and citizens′ needs and demands more actively，and keep citizens better informed of government operation.
