Abstract:

By combining the writer’s mentality with the social environment of the production of the fiction，this paper interprets the imagery of “Twilight”in Remote Town in the following three aspects: diction，imagery，and theme. By summing up the occurrence of and analyzing the imagery of “Twilight”in the story，the author concludes that Remote Town shows the tragic gap between the worldly beings and the Gods (God Nuo in particular)，which represents the impact of Han culture on the Miao nationality. Therefore，Remote Town expresses Shen Congwen’s concern and worry about the cultural conflict between Miao and Han nationality，which is also his modern reflection.
