Abstract: In the early years of Qianlong period, Wang Fu, a scholar from Wuyuan, was anxious about the decline of Zhuism and the rebel against the orthodoxy, so he wrote to the distinguished local elite, Jiang Yong, and trying to stop the decline. He also presented his understanding of Zhu Xi's thoughts in his works of Reading Jin Si Lu and Li Xue Feng Yuan, aiming to promote the declining social mentality then and to redirect people's attention to simplicity in life. These two works fully embody Wang Fu's ideas about obtaining knowledge by investigation of things, interpreting classics, and about staying alert to the inner desires. However, his interpretation which focused on inheriting the achievements of predecessors was not valued well accepted then. Under the full impact of Sinology, his ideas was marginalized with waning influences. Such harsh environment made Wang Fu's persistence to Zhuism more precious. Wang Fu made great contributions to the development of neo-Confucianism from the prevalence of Sinology, which mainly include: compiling the history of neo-Confucianism and showing its theoretical development, collating and annotating Zhuism, strengthening the link between Zhuism and real society.
