Dilemma of Culture-oriented Elderly Care and Practical Approaches

Abstract: In the context of rapid economic development and population aging,elderly caring services are increasingly oriented to the cultural needs of the aged by combining traditional culture and contemporary humanistic care. The cultural orientation in elderly caring not only conforms to the social transformation and the new concept of active aging, but also plays an important role in improving the efficiency of national governance and developing a great socialist culture in China. At present, cultureoriented elderly caring is faced with many difficulties in practice despite some achievements:inadequate concept of cultureoriented elderly caring, conflicts between supply and demand, imperfect policy system, and difficulties in implementation. In order to further improve and develop China's culture-oriented elderly caring industry, it is necessary to explore the path to assure the aged a happy life by providing opportunities of entertainment, learning and involvement on the multi-driven and demand-oriented basis of government guidance, diversified innovative development.
