Shale Gas Revolution in China—Problems and Countermeasures

Abstract

Abstract:

Shale gas development has been a major revolution in the field of global energy. Although shale rich in organic
matters is widely distributed in China，researches on shale gas，researches，exploration and development are still in the infancy
stage. Currently，there are some major troubles blocking the development of shale gas industry. The key technology for
exploitation is not suitable for China’s geologic characteristics；the high cost of technology hinders the shale gas industry；
the exploitation of shale gas requires further perfection of market system and mechanism；environment issues arising from
the exploitation of shale gas can’t be solved properly yet. Through analysis we conclude that we should combination China’s
national conditions with foreign experiences and accelerate technological innovation for exploitation；market cultivation should
be enhanced and cost should be decreased with the support of national policies；to make shale gas the clean and green energy
supporting the economic and social development，water conservation should be the key，with equal emphasis on exploitation
and protection.
