Abstract: Beginning with the second-order difference equation for solving deflection of the beams, the present paper has obtained simple formulas of evaluating the deflections and angles of rotation by using Z-transformation. These formulas can simplify the calculation a lot, particularly in solving problems of non-uniform cross section beam under complex loads. Besides, it is a primary attempt to apply Z-transformation to mechanics.
