Abstract: On the basis of analysing the development and distribution of the sedimentary facies of late Permian age and their characteristics, it is thought that the sedimentary enviroments of late Permian in Nanpangjang river area consist of continental, shore, sub-shallow sea and shatlow-bathyal ones. Correspondingly, two kinds of earbonate platforms, the bioherm and the deep-water trough facies sedimentation are developed. The above characteristics of the sedimentary sea basin are concerned with the development history of plate tectonics in the area and directly controlled by encient faulting within this area.According to the tectonic activities, some equestions have been posed which must be paid attention to in petroleum exploration.
